Vogue with Benny Ninja

A couple of Wednesdays ago in Union Square Park, in celebration of NYC’s Immigrant Heritage Week, Djoniba Dance Centre presented a “Cultural Fitness Day.”  one of the many performances included Benny Ninja, father of the House of Ninja and America’s Next Top Model guest judge and coach, led a vogueing class demonstration. These are images from the demo.

Noel and Fernando at the George Washington Bridge

This past Thursday, I ventured out to the George Washington Bridge in Washington Heights to photograph Noel and his brother, Fernando. These are my favorite images from the shoot.

On the Avenue — Fifth Avenue — with Deirdre…

I snapped her. Now I’ve got to find a way to get her into the rotogravure!

Wednesday with Marcos

This past Wednesday, my friend Marcos (who is originally from Brazil) came out to Riverhead, Long Island, for a photo session. We drove from Riverhead, through Jamesport, then out to Greenport. It was a lovely day and Marcos is always a pleasure.

Noel isn’t 16. In addition to pursuing modeling, he’s going to school to become a nutritionist and is a poet. Happy September greetings from Chinatown from Bob & Noel!

August, when you’re on the beach you steal the show

DSC_0059Well… yeah… on the beach or in front of the fountain on the grounds of the U.S. Open. This is Fliery, a man who is fun to work with and also is a dance teacher! As an FYI, his name means “blossom.”

July, like a fire cracker all aglow

DSC_0199“Fire cracker all aglow” certainly describes Petr, who currently lives in London but is originally from the Czech Republic. Would you ever guess that he is a personal trainer?

But anyway… In addition to shooting for the calendar, Petr wanted to get some shots for a Calvin Klein underwear photo contest. So, while we were in Times Square, we captured a few images of him in his Calvins. The amazing thing is that Petr didn’t stop traffic nor did many people notice.

June, they’ll let me take you to the junior prom

DSC_0941I did a little research and learned that Neil Sedaka was 20 or 21 when “Calendar Girl” was on the charts. So, given his age, he probably better ask the girl’s parents if it would be okay for him to take their daughter to the junior prom.

And… uh… just to back track a bit, for the month of March, he sings that he’ like to march this young lady down the aisle. It’s a bit disconcerting for sure but, if he married her in March why on earth would he need to ask her parent’s permission to take her to the prom.?

Anyway… Here are some of the images I captured of Andrew this past Sunday. He’s a kung fu guy and a fight choreographer so we got some cool jump shots, too.

If you’d like to see Andrew in action on video (featuring some of these images), click here!

May, maybe if I ask your dad and mom…

DSC_0322The more I actually read these lyrics, the more stupid they get—not to mention a little sick.

So, during the month of May the guy is supposed ask the calendar girl’s parents if he’ll take her to the (June) junior prom. Who on earth asks parents if they can take their daughter to the junior prom? Unless, of course, the guy singing this song is much older than his love interest. Hmm…

Anyway… meet Khali (on the right) & Suman (on the left). The cousins both moved to the States ten years ago from Bangladesh. Khali coaxed his cousin to join him at our shoot and there you have it: two men for the price of one month!

April, you’re the Easter Bunny when you smile…

DSC_0194 copyEaster Bunny when you smile? Who wrote these lyrics? I guess April showers aren’t that cheery…

Meet Chris, who recently moved to New York City from Atlanta. Surprisingly, he doesn’t have much of a Southern accent but he certainly does have that Southern charm. When he moved to the city, he was working in finance but has left finance to make his mark in the more exciting worlds of acting and modeling!
